| Background: | The diverse dune habitat supports a unique faunal assemblage, including small mammals and birds, carnivores, reptiles, and amphibians. The beach is occupied by the sanderling, killdeer, whimbrel, dunlin, gulls, Caspian tern, and the western and least sandpiper. Northern harriers and blacshouldered kites can be seen occasionally over the dune areas. On rare occasions, one may be able to view the western snowy plover. | ||
